懇親会
Get-acquainted reception
表彰の合間に、懇親会がおこなわれました。表彰式の緊張感とは打って変わった、リラックスした雰囲気で、日本と海外の高校生とが積極的に交流を深めていました。
A social get-together was held between the awarding ceremony.Unlike the tense atmosphere of the awarding ceremony, the atmosphere of the get-together was very relaxing and the Japanese students and the students from abroaddeepened exchanges actively there.
海外の高校生を含む約500名の参加者たちは、テーブルを埋め尽くした豪華な料理に、目をキラキラさせていました。
About 500 participants, including the high school students from abroad watched all the fabulous food on the table with twinkling eyes.
懇親会が進むにつれ、表彰式で緊張していた参加者たちに、笑顔が浮かびました。初対面同士で、最初はぎこちなかったのですが、次第に打ち解けて来ました。そして、あちこちで国際交流が見られたのです。
日本の高校生も、積極的に英語で話しかける姿が目立ち、言語は違ってもアートという共通語で、国境を越える親睦が促進されたのです。
As the ceremony progressed, the participants who were looking nervous during the awarding ceremony started to smile. At first, because it is the first time they meet each other, they all displayed an awkward attitude. However, gradually, they started to feel comfortable with one other and international exchange could be seen here and there. Japanese students were also trying to talk to other people in English. This means that cross-boundary friendship was promoted through the common language, art.

表彰式の前日、上位入賞者と海外の受賞者39名を招待し、国際交流ツアーをおこないました。朝、新宿に集合し、みんなで一台のバスに乗り込みました。車中では、恒例の英語による自己紹介がおこなわれました。
On the day before the awarding ceremony, 39 students - the top winners and the winners from abroad - were invited to an international exchange tour. Everyone gathered in Shinjyuku in the morning and got on a bus. On the bus, the usual selfintroduction
in English was given by everyone.
ラオス代表カーヴィ・サイパーニャ君、苦手な英語で一生懸命スピーチしてくれました。
Khavy Xaypanya, representing Lao PDR tried very hard to make a speech in English which he is not too good at.

日本最古の禅寺、建長寺や、鎌倉大仏殿高徳院を巡りながら、お互いに用意していた名刺を交換し、本格的な国際交流がスタートします。
The participants exchanged name cards as they went around to see the historical sites such as Kenchoji, the oldest Zen temple in Japan, and the Great Buddha of Kamakura and Koutoku-in. This is the start of a real international exchange.
鎌倉を後にし、次は箱根へ向かいます。道すがら、若き芸術家たちは、図録で互いの作品を紹介し、言葉の壁を超え、アートという共通世界で心の交流を図りました。
After leaving Kamakura, they all made their way to Hakone. On their way, the young artists introduced their
works in the pictorial record. They fully enjoyed the heart to heart exchange in the common world of art.
箱根では、まず箱根神社へ。その後、ユネッサン小涌園で、日本の温泉文化を満喫しました。
In Hakone, the participants first went to the Hakone Shrine. Then, they went to Yunessun Kowakien to fully enjoy the onsen (hot spa) culture.
最後に、ユネッサン小涌園のイタリアンレストランで、パーティーをおこないました。美味しい食事に舌鼓を打ちながら、手品を披露する人もいました。参加者のコミュニケーション能力の高さは、驚くほどでした。
At the end, a party was held in an Italian restaurant in the Yunessun Kowakien. While enjoying the delicious food, someone was performing magic tricks. The communication ability of the participants was extraordinary.
